University of Memphis Centennial Place
Memphis, TN

The University of Memphis recruited the help of Fleming Architects to design a much needed Residence Hall that would replace the outdated Richardson Towers dormitory. Fleming designed a new five story, 804 bed student housing building, which included living and learning suites as well as apartment style units. Additionally, the new Residence Hall includes classrooms, multipurpose and study spaces for students, and new kitchen and laundry facilities.

This five story student housing facility for the University of Memphis will accommodate 138 students in 6-bedroom apartments and 616 students in dormitory-style suites. Energy saving design features such as insulated concrete form (ICF) exterior walls will be incorporated into a residential brick and shingle style architecture. The building is being designed using the Tennessee Board of Regents Sustainable Design Guidelines and will include recycled and regionally sourced construction materials, occupancy sensors, recycling stations and high efficiency mechanical systems.
