Christian Brothers University Living Learning Center
Memphis, TN
Christian Brothers University collaborated with Fleming Architects to create the campus’s first Living and Learning Center. The multipurpose Center includes 21 private and 72 semi-private premium residence hall accommodations, formal and informal public gathering spaces on each floor, a fully equipped serving kitchen, a main floor multipurpose classroom, an exterior patio, game and TV viewing area in the student commons, and laundry and recycling facilities on each floor. CBU was also interested in incorporating sustainable elements into the design, and together with the Fleming team, created CBU Green, which is a guideline that will be used in all future construction on the CBU campus. Sustainable features of the Living and Learning Center include electric car charging stations, recycled and biodegradable construction materials, occupancy sensors for lighting, low flow plumbing fixtures, a white roof, and mechanical system sensors.
